Now, we’re cooking.

December 20, 2020 By Wendy Scherer Leave a Comment

I had a thought today.

It’s a very quiet, snowy Sunday.

You might know that I bake. A lot. I have my favorite recipes, but try new ones all the time. I have a sourdough starter (with no name), plenty of yeast, and a lot of King Arthur flour.

Feeling up for a new challenge, I pulled a few bread cookbooks off the shelf. Cookbooks that I haven’t looked at in quite in a while. I decided to try a new baguette recipe. It’s on its first rise.

During the kneading, I was talking to a friend and mentioned that I was using a cookbook. And she mentioned she had some cookbooks out. And I realized that I got 2 new cookbooks as gifts recently (Piometry from my kids and The Cookie Collection from my Reddit Secret Santa. Pretty great gifts. And top it off with what I bought myself recently, Dessert Person along with the groovy apron that Claire partnered with Alex Mills to create.

All this to say that I’ve been thinking about cookbooks lately and I was curious to know if you were, too. Well, the global you. And so, I ran a query and you know what? You are. We are. Cookbooks are in again.

About Wendy Scherer

Wendy knew from her years as a partner with Bozell Worldwide that there was a great need for knowledge synthesis and business research that was more than a mere information dump. To address the market need for finding and digesting complex business research, she founded Scherer Cybrarian in 1995. The business grew and expanded over the years to include primary research, GIS, news aggregation and monitoring, and much more. But what she loved the most was the emerging world of social media research. (Don’t laugh. Everyone should love their work as much as Wendy does!) As this segment grew, it became apparent that this specialty could stand on its own to grow and change with the times. And so, The Social Studies Group was born in 2009.
