I’ve never been a good sleeper. I think it’s genetic, but that doesn’t make it any less annoying.
I can function fairly well with very little sleep, but I love to sleep. I love my bed and my linens and my pillows. {I can talk extensively about linens, if you ever are interested in doing that!}
In college, I started drinking Sleepytime Tea. Love the taste, but it didn’t do much. As I got older, I tried acupuncture, meditation, music, boring stories, and finally, medications. Nothing worked all the time, but the meds did help. But I strongly disliked taking a pill every night. And I started reading some ‘not so great’ articles about those meds. I weaned off of them, resigned to just sleep less.
But one day after we moved recently, I found an app that had different color noises — of course I knew about white noise, but they had pink and green and brown and more.
Once I stopped laughing at the brown sound/noise reference from South Park, I decided to try them all. Turns out, Brown Noise works amazingly well for me. I discovered something new. No one else had ever figured this out. But wait, could that be? As a social intelligence professional, I had to find out more.

I recognize that not everyone does a research project to figure out if their ideas have merit. For me, it’s just fun. And I am not too proud to mention that of course others knew about brown noise before I did. I’m just glad I know now!
